These Fashion Week trends are already filtering down into the shops and here’s how we’re incorporating them into our wardrobes.

Keep seeing those sheer bloomer-style trousers everywhere and not sure you could or even want to try that trend? Don’t worry, although volume can be scary, it can be so simple to pull off. Think more structured blazers with voluminous sleeves and a cinched in waist to balance the proportions. Another easy adaptation is the horseshoe jean that we’ve seen for a while now, there’s hundreds of styles out there that range from a very wide leg, to slightly ballooned – a small nod to the trend and an easy item to add into your wardrobe. Perhaps a black pair teamed with a blouse and heel for an evening look.

Another key piece that we’ve seen over the summer is the Chloe-esque silky, lace tops and dresses that aren’t going anywhere. Now being worn as transitional pieces over jeans, trousers, tops, they’re a key layering piece that you can bring back in the spring time and time again. Now, I’m obviously going to talk about coats because it wouldn’t be Autumn without them. This season we’re channelling Scandinavian effortless chic with draped necklines and built in scarves. This style is super easy to throw on and look instantly elegant without much effort.

A leather jacket is a staple in most wardrobes but this season we’re leaning into the fashion world with leather trench coats and bomber jackets. These are also another simple transitional piece that can be worn over dresses and t-shirts whilst we’re still in mid-season and again, another key investment piece that you know you’ll keep going back to.

Finally let’s talk prints. Checks and stripes are at the forefront this autumn and are a fun way to add dimension to a look. By throwing on a checked shirt around the waist or trying a plaid midi skirt for work, you’re showing a nod to the fashion world. Stripes can be fun and not always overpowering, so wear them in light layers or chunky knits.
